The Zoom H6 is a handheld six-track audio recorder with interchangeable input capsules. It records field audio, interviews and music to SD cards, and is small enough to run on camera or in a sound bag.
The input capsules swap in and out as easily as a lens, so the same recorder can switch between stereo capture and shotgun-style pickup depending on the job. The H6 has four combination XLR and TRS inputs with real gain knobs and a -20dB pad on each, which makes it quick to adjust on set. Every WAV file is time-stamped and compatible with Broadcast Wave Format.
It records up to six tracks at once at up to 24-bit and 96kHz, onto SD, SDHC and SDXC cards of up to 128GB. Phantom power is available on the main inputs at +12V, +24V and +48V. It weighs 280g without batteries and runs for over 20 hours on AA cells. It suits dialogue, ambience and music capture, alongside lavaliers or a boom microphone.
