A 6x6 foot white China silk, a traditional diffusion fabric used on a frame between a light and the subject. It gives a soft, smooth, natural-looking light and is a standard choice for soft key light and window diffusion.

China silk is a thin, fine-weave fabric that diffuses and softens a source while keeping a natural look. It is a medium-strength diffusion, so it cuts more light than a quarter silk and less than a full artificial silk. Held close to a subject it gives a large, soft, wrapping source, which is why it is used for beauty and close-up work. Like any fabric it moves in wind, so rig it with sandbags.
