Tiffen IRND 7-Way Set (6x6)

This kit is a set of seven Tiffen IRND filters in the 6x6 size, from IRND 0.3 up to 2.1, for a large matte box on a cinema camera. IRND filters combine neutral density with infrared cut, so heavy ND does not turn blacks and dark fabrics red or magenta on a sensor that sees infrared.

The set covers one to seven stops of light reduction in single-stop steps, which lets you hold a wide aperture in bright daylight and still keep the look you want. With a 6x6 matte box, the filters drop into the tray and stack with diffusion or a polariser. Pick the weakest filter that gets you to the stop you need and keep IRND in the stack for the heavier values, where the IR contamination from ordinary ND is worst.

The densities are 0.3, 0.6, 0.9, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8 and 2.1, which are one, two, three, four, five, six and seven stops. The filters are made from Water White glass with Tiffen's ColorCore process, which laminates the coating between two pieces of glass so the surface can be cleaned safely.
