The Sony UTX-B40 and URX-P40 are a bodypack transmitter and portable receiver from the UWP-D range, a single-channel wireless lavalier system for on-camera and run-and-gun sound. It suits interviews, documentary and corporate work where a camera-mounted receiver is enough.
The receiver mounts to the camera with the supplied cold shoe adapter and connects with a 3.5mm cable, or the XLR adapter lead supplied. The transmitter takes the ECM-V1BMP lavalier with tie clip and windshield. The kit includes rechargeable AA batteries with a charger, so it is ready to use from the case.
The UTX-B40 transmits at 30mW or 5mW, selectable, and lasts about 8 hours at 30mW on two AA batteries, and it can be powered over USB-C at 5V. The URX-P40 receiver runs about 6 hours on two AA batteries with display auto off, and has a headphone output of 10mW into 16 ohms.
