Sony ( MDR-7506/1 ) Professional Headphones

The Sony MDR-7506 is a closed-back professional monitoring headphone that has been a fixture in broadcast and recording studios for decades. It is built for daily use and gives a consistent, neutral sound.

The response is fairly flat and neutral, so you hear what the microphone is actually capturing rather than a flattering version of it. That is why sound recordists, editors and camera operators use them to check dialogue and levels. The closed-back design keeps outside noise down, and the build is made to cope with the wear of working studios and sets.

The 40mm drivers use neodymium magnets and cover 10Hz to 20kHz. Impedance is 63 ohms and sensitivity is 106dB per mW. The headphones weigh 230g and come with a 3m cord that ends in a gold plated 1/4 inch plug with a 1/8 inch adaptor, so they connect to most recorders, mixers and cameras without extra leads.
