The Sony FX5 is a compact full-frame Cinema Line camera built around a newly developed, fully stacked Exmor RS sensor. It is the first FX camera to record internal RAW and open gate, in a small body that suits gimbals, handheld work and tight spaces.
The sensor gives over 15 stops of dynamic range in S-Log3, and three base ISOs of 800, 4000 and 12,800 cover bright exteriors through to low light. Internal X-OCN records 16-bit RAW, including 3:2 open gate for reframing and anamorphic work. It shoots 5K at up to 60fps, 4K at up to 120fps and HD at up to 240fps.
Five-axis in-body stabilisation and AI-based subject recognition with real-time tracking autofocus help when working alone or on a gimbal. The E-mount takes native E lenses and adapted cinema glass, and the XLR-H2 handle adds two XLR inputs and up to four channels of audio. A built-in cooling fan keeps the body running through long takes.
