Schneider Full Diopter 138mm Set

Schneider full diopters are close-up lenses that sit in front of the lens, letting you focus nearer than the lens normally allows. This set is in the 138mm drop-in format for large matte boxes.

A diopter shortens the minimum focus distance without exposure loss, which is handy for insert shots, product work and tight close-ups. Lighter strengths are often best on anamorphic lenses, where a strong diopter can distort the image in small spaces. They can be used with zooms and primes alike.

The filters are single-element glass with an anti-reflective coating on both surfaces, in anodised aluminium rings with a 138mm drop-in mount. They fit standard 138mm matte box stages. A +1 diopter brings the plane of focus to about one metre, and a +2 brings it nearer, with no exposure compensation needed.
