Scaffold Tube - 8ft

An 8ft (2.4m) scaffold tube, used to build overhead rails, flag bars and hanging points for lights on a set. It is a cheap, strong horizontal support that spans between stands or clamps to the building.

Standard scaffold tube is 48.3mm in diameter, so it fits standard barrel clamps, Big Ben clamps and scaffold fittings, and lights or flags hang from it with a Junior or baby pin. You can also use it as a rail across the top of two stands to hold a flag or a diffusion frame, or as a bar for hanging black cloth. Rig it on solid stands and secure it at both ends, because a long tube carries a lot of leverage if it is knocked.

This tube is 8ft (2.4m) long. It spans two stands comfortably for a flag bar or a light rail. The diameter is the standard 48.3mm of scaffold tube. It is easy to carry in a car and to store, and two lengths joined with a coupler make a longer rail.
