The Leica Noctilux 50mm T0.95 is a rehoused version of one of the fastest standard lenses ever made, here in a TLS cine housing. It is chosen for extreme low-light work and very shallow depth of field.

Nicknamed the light giant, the Noctilux line began as a stills lens in 1966 and has been revised several times since. It is valued by cinematographers because the maximum aperture is also a usable working aperture, so you can shoot wide open without a loss of image quality. It is an unusual and revered lens.

The optical design of the Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH is 8 elements in 5 groups with aspherical surfaces and a 47 degree diagonal angle of view. In its stills form it focuses to 1m. The TLS rehouse adds standard 0.8 pitch gears and a cine front, so it works with a follow focus and matte box like any modern prime.
