The Cartoni C40S is a heavy-duty fluid head that adds a Dutch tilt axis, so the camera can roll side to side as well as pan and tilt. It carries up to 100lb cameras, which suits studio and cinema rigs on a dolly, crane or large tripod where the horizon needs to be rolled for a shot.

The head offers eight levels of fluid drag from 0 for free movement to 7, and an eight-position counterbalance selector tuned with the sliding plate to match the camera. The Dutch axis lets you lock the horizon off-level without re-rigging the camera. The kit includes a telescopic pan bar with handle and a Euro quick-release plate, and two 3/8 inch screws.

Payload varies with balance plate length: 39kg (86lb) with the 200mm plate, 45kg (99lb) with 150mm and 54kg (119lb) with 100mm. Tilt range is plus or minus 65 degrees, and the head weighs 8kg. It mounts on European-style quick-release plates or with 3/8 inch screws, and an illuminated spirit level is built in.
