Canon EF 85mm F1.4 L IS USM

The Canon EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM is a fast portrait lens with image stabilisation, built to Canon's weather-sealed L-series standard. It is a natural choice for shallow depth of field and low-light work on EF-mount cameras.

At f/1.4 it separates a subject cleanly from the background, and the four-stop Image Stabilizer helps when shooting handheld at slow shutter speeds. The ring-type USM drives fast, quiet autofocus, which is useful on run-and-gun shoots. Its L-series sealing resists dust and moisture, so it copes with exterior work.

The optical design is 14 elements in 10 groups, including an aspherical element. Minimum focus distance is 0.85m, the filter thread is 77mm and the lens weighs 950g. It is an EF-mount lens that covers full frame, and it adapts to many mirrorless and cine bodies through an EF adapter.
