Canon EF 35mm F1.4 L II USM

The Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM is a fast, natural-perspective wide prime from Canon's L-series. It is a go-to for documentary, interviews and handheld work on EF-mount cameras and adapted bodies.

Its 63 degree angle of view sits close to how the eye frames a scene, so it works for walk-and-talk and environmental portraits. The f/1.4 aperture handles low light, and the ring-type USM autofocus is fast and quiet. The second-generation design uses a blue spectrum refractive element, a UD element and aspherical elements to control colour fringing and distortion.

Construction is 14 elements in 11 groups, with a nine-blade circular aperture for round out-of-focus highlights. Minimum focus is 0.28m, the filter thread is 72mm and the lens weighs 760g. It is an EF-mount lens with full-frame coverage, and it adapts to mirrorless bodies with an EF adapter.
