Canon EF 100mm f2.8L Macro IS USM

The Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM is a true 1:1 macro lens that doubles as a sharp short telephoto for portraits. It was the first EOS macro lens with image stabilisation, which makes handheld close-ups practical.

The Hybrid IS system gives up to four stops of correction and compensates for shift as well as angular shake, which matters at macro distances. Water- and dust-resistant L-series construction and a ring-type USM motor keep it quick and quiet on location. A three-position focus limiter speeds up autofocus when you are not working at macro distances.

Optically it uses 15 elements in 12 groups, including a UD element, with a nine-blade circular aperture. Life-size 1:1 reproduction is possible from a minimum focus distance of 0.3m. The filter thread is 67mm, and an optional tripod collar is available. It is an EF-mount lens with full-frame coverage.
