The Blackmagic Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 3G converts SDI to HDMI or HDMI to SDI in a pocket-sized metal box, with a single converter handling whichever direction the job needs. It suits video village feeds, client monitors and any run where a camera, recorder or monitor speaks the other standard.
On set it earns its place on the cable run: an HDMI-only camera output can be put onto an SDI cable for a long run to the monitor, or an SDI feed can be brought down to HDMI for a client display or a small field monitor. It re-clocks the signal, so it also helps clean up a long SDI run. Because it carries embedded audio and timecode, the sound and timecode go along with the picture.
It takes SD, HD and 3G-SDI at up to 1080p60 and DCI 2K, with HDMI Type A in and out. Colour is 4:2:2 at 8 or 10-bit. It is powered over USB-C and configured with the Blackmagic Converters Setup utility on Mac or Windows; it also passes Blackmagic camera control and tally.
