Black Flags (Multiple Sizes)

A kit of black duvetyne flags in several sizes for shaping light and controlling contrast. They cut spill off a background, negative-fill a face and block flare into the lens before it reaches the camera.

The kit runs across several sizes, from small on-camera cutters to larger floor-standing flags, so a suitable size is close to hand for most set-ups. Solid black fabric absorbs light rather than bouncing it, which makes a flag the cheapest way to add contrast, deepen shadow or tidy a messy background.

Each flag is solid black fabric on a lightweight frame with a standard grip pin, ready to mount on any C-stand arm or grip head. Add a sandbag to the stand when flying a larger flag outdoors, as wind will catch the cloth. Flags need no power and almost no setup time beyond finding a stand, and having several sizes means you rarely need to improvise with a book or a coat.
