The Atomos Sumo19 is a 19 inch HDR monitor, recorder and switcher built for multi-camera work. It records the feeds from up to four cameras as separate ISOs along with a switched programme channel, all on one drive.
Four HD streams and the programme output record to a single SSD in ProRes or DNx. The firmware supports asynchronous multi-camera feeds, so cameras do not need genlock, and channels are switched live by touching the screen. The switched result goes to HDMI or SDI as well as to disk.
Each cut writes an edit point to an XML file alongside the recording, so the ISOs open in an editing timeline with the cuts already in place. The 1920x1080 panel suits a video village or a live event desk, and single and double taps can be set to give a hard cut or a channel preview before the cut.
