Aputure Light Dome Mini III

The Aputure Light Dome Mini III is a compact deep parabolic softbox that gives a soft, directional source with good falloff. It suits interviews, beauty and product work, and it is also useful as a small key on a location where a larger box will not fit.

It opens on 16 steel rods into a hexadecagon shape and packs flat for travel, so it goes up quickly and strikes just as fast. The speed ring fits a Bowens S mount, so it works on Aputure and other Bowens-mount heads. The kit includes a 1.5 stop diffusion layer and a 40 degree fabric grid, so you can soften the output further or tighten the spill when it needs to stay off a background.

The softbox is 58cm across when open and weighs 1.3kg. Collapsed it measures 53 x 18 x 5cm. The Bowens speed ring is supplied. The kit supplies the softbox with its 1.5 stop diffusion and 40 degree fabric grid as one package, so nothing else is needed to soften or control the output once it is on the head.
