The Alesis Multimix 8 USB is an 8-channel analogue mixer with a USB audio interface, used on set for mixing a few microphones and line sources or for recording a mix to a computer. It suits podcasts, small interview setups and playback or monitoring where a compact desk is wanted.
It is a small desk for a small job: a handful of microphones and line sources balanced by hand and sent to a recorder, a computer or a pair of monitors. The analogue signal path has no menus to learn, so anyone can set it up and mix on a table within minutes.
The mixer takes XLR microphone inputs with switchable 48V phantom power for condenser mics, plus line inputs on all eight channels. USB is class-compliant, so it connects to a computer with no driver install, and the kit includes the mains cable to power it up.
