16A to 13A Socket

A 16A to 13A adapter lead that lets a standard 13A UK plug run from a 16A commando supply. It is for plugging small kit, chargers and work lights into the 16A outlets from a generator, distribution box or reel.

On a location the power is often on 16A connectors while the small gear has 13A plugs, and this lead bridges the two. The 13A end limits the load that goes through it, so keep what you plug in to 13A or less in total. It suits chargers, laptops and small LED lamps, but a large lighting head should use the 16A connector directly. Check that both connectors are fully engaged, and keep the lead off wet ground.

The adapter has a 16A commando (BS EN 60309) connector at the supply end and a BS 1363 13A socket at the output, rated at 230V. The 13A rating of the socket applies, even though the supply side is 16A.
