12x12 Full Silent Grid Cloth

A 12x12 foot silent full grid cloth, a heavy diffusion fabric that cuts light by over two stops and softens it. It is used on a 12x12 frame over a scene, between the sun and the action, to reduce contrast and soften shadows on exterior day shoots.

A full grid cloth is the strongest of the three grid cloths and the one to use when you need to take a lot of light off. The silent finish means it does not rattle or crackle in wind, which helps when the camera is recording sound. It shades a large area evenly and keeps a natural white balance, which is why it is used in preference to a net on a bright day. Use a half grid for a lighter cut.

The cloth is 12 x 12ft (3.66 x 3.66m) and rigs on a 12x12 frame. It takes a little over two stops off the light, which makes it the heaviest cut of the three grid cloths and the one to use over a whole scene in hard sun.
