1/4 White Artificial Silk - 6x6

A 6x6 foot quarter white artificial silk, a light diffusion fabric used on a frame between a light and the subject. It softens the light with a small loss in exposure and is the lightest of the artificial silks.

It takes the hard edge off a source and softens shadows while leaving most of the light in place, so it is a good choice when the light level is already low and a heavier diffusion would mean pushing the exposure. The white fabric also adds a little ambient bounce on the lit side. At 6x6 it covers a single or a close-up and goes up on one stand with a frame.

The fabric is 6 x 6ft (1.83 x 1.83m) and rigs on a 6x6 frame. A quarter silk is the lightest of the artificial silks and takes only a fraction of a stop off the light, so it suits a scene where there is little light to spare.
